Performance review phrases results oriented

If you grew up being taught that tooting your own horn was not a good thing, you could likely be daunted by having to write a self-appraisal for your job. Praise for your employment accomplishments, however, is exactly what your boss wants to read, especially if she doesn't have frequent opportunity to observe you in action. Knowing the right buzzwords to incorporate can distinguish you as well as project confidence and self-esteem about your capabilities

Action Verbs

Like resumes, employment self-appraisals are an invitation to demonstrate to the reader that you have a results-oriented mindset. Strong action verbs such as implemented, directed, optimized, consolidated, enhanced, maximized, resolved, negotiated, improved, centralized, influenced and facilitated are effective buzzwords to use, especially if they are connected to achievements that involve saving time and money, reducing waste and attracting new business.

Company Jargon

Embrace the corporate culture by inserting its lexicon into your evaluation. Every company has its own language, catchphrases and acronyms that distinguish it from the competition. Chances are that when you applied to the company you studied the job specs, website and maybe even annual reports, not only to educate yourself on its products, services, history and vision but to project a level of familiarity that made it seem as if you already belonged there. Using these same buzzwords, references and expressions in your self-appraisal reinforces the impression of your strong commitment and awareness of what the company considers to be important.

Teamwork

Even though the appraisal is all about you, it's essential you convey that you are part of a larger network that empowers you and makes everything possible. Using words such as team members, coworkers, peers, partners, mentors, committees, cooperative efforts, brainstorming and group input shows that you value the chance to impart knowledge as well as learn from others. Coupled with this is an emphasis on giving credit where it is due.

Communication

The word "communicate" probably can never be used too much in a self-appraisal. Use it to address the importance of active listening, drafting effective policies and procedures, training fellow employees, following complex instructions, handling damage-control scenarios and building and maintaining customer, vendor and coworker trust.
