Performance Review phrases can range from simple expressions to more detailed expressions. Typical positive words include words similar to what you would find in a report card. Words such as excels, creates and/or maintains, gives attention to and ensures. These are just some relevant examples that are positive terms.
Other suitable positive terms may include, shows willingness, demonstrates and is open and receptive. Using the right positive terminology will certainly make a difference in the performance review and the way it is received by the person being reviewed.
Negative terms on the other hand could be terms like, struggles with, needs to pay attention to, needs to work at or could do better. These terms should be used less and the whole experience needs to be positive unless the relationship is on the edge and the person is about to be terminated.
A review needs to be positive and if the team member is really not performing then the discussion needs to centre around what the issues are instead of negative conversations that will simply make the whole experience something that both parties did not want to occur.
