Most appraisals spell out the importance of communication in the workplace. Use evaluation comments which highlight the person’s ability to interact with fellow work colleagues as well as customers in a professional and dignified way. Communications may take the form of verbal face-to-face, digital methods (i.e. e-mail messaging, etc.) and phone conversations. Highlight the person’s ability to be a good listener which will result in them being able to advise and resolve problems more effectively.
Team building qualities will also need to be emphasized. Use phrases which spell out the person’s ability to be a good leader for others, mentoring fellow colleagues in technical/non-technical areas and the ability to make customers feel at ease while having conversations in order to solve problems. If the employee also has individuals reporting to them then clarify their leadership qualities, motivational abilities to their workers and their ability to command respect from the team.
Being creative is also a key part of most roles. Use employee performance review phrases which highlight problem solving abilities as well as individuals’ capability to skillfully resolve issues rapidly in dynamic situations (e.g. when dealing with customers with various problems).
A person’s level of professionalism should also be included in appraisals. Their attitude towards colleagues, customers and their work should be spelled out clearly using frank review phrases. Detail their ability to develop and maintain relationships within the firm as well as outside.
Finally, a performance evaluation will often include sections for stress management and attendance. These are often quite standard with regard to the phrases that you use. Highly stressful roles should however emphasize individual’s ability to deal with tough situations and crises in a composed and professional manner.
